APPOINTMENTS AT STEP 1 ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS POSITION AT $67,974.40. Employees of the County are bound by the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Compliance with Comp Order 1.3.5.

The job of an Air Quality Inspector I is to inspect sources of air pollution to make sure that they abide by California state law, EPA regulations, and SDAPCD guidelines. The ideal applicant will be driven to succeed, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be customer-focused and teamwork-oriented, and focus on teamwork.
Dates of Selection Interviews
The week of December 11, 2023, is when the job offer and background check process starts. Note: Additional background checks may not be conducted on current County employees.
Pre-employment Medical Screening: About three days after the findings of a successful background check.
Anticipated Start Date: This date will be determined by mutual agreement or upon the successful completion of a medical screening.

Required Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, or a closely related scientific discipline from an approved U.S. college or university, OR; a certified foreign studies equivalence in these fields; OR;
- Four (4) years of professionally compensated paraprofessional, technical, or regulatory job experience with an environmental consulting firm, regulatory agency, or other closely associated business; OR;
- A comparable mix of the previously mentioned college training and/or experience.
